IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Alice Ruth
(Means) Gentry
December 8, 1956 – August 29, 2024
Mrs. Alice Ruth Means Gentry, native of Spartanburg, SC, was born on December 8, 1956. She entered into her eternal rest with the Lord on Thursday afternoon, August 29, 2024, in the comfort of her home. She was the daughter of the late Nona Jean Means Wallace. She was the loving wife and a devoted mother.
Alice joined Holden Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in her early adulthood. Over the years, she served on the Worship and Praise Choir, Usher Ministry, and was involved in a host of church events. She worked in various roles throughout her career, but she was particularly remembered for her time at Piccadilly Cafeteria, Health-Tex, and Springs Industries. Her colleagues and peers admired her for her unwavering commitment to excellence and the warm, positive influence she had on everyone around her. Mrs. Alice loved playing spades and gin rummy, telling jokes, watching her old western and crime shows, and outdoor grilling.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Willie "Jack" Gentry; her children, Charles (Teresa) Means of Aiken, SC, and Camisha Gentry of Charlotte, NC; her grandchild, Wylica (Rusty) Means-Morgan; her great-grandchild, Amiria Gibson; her sisters, Joanna Gentry and Tammie Wallace; her brothers, Charles Means and Allen (Jackie) Wallace; along with many nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, and friends who will cherish her memory.
