Obituary

Roger Scott was born on March 13, 1953, in Richmond, Virginia, to the late Elease and George Scott.  He was the eldest of three siblings.  The family relocated to Miami, Florida in the mid-1950s where Roger received his formal education in the Miami-Dade County Public School system, receiving his High School Diploma from Miami Norland High School in 1972.  Roger at an early age had a profound love for God and the word of God.

After graduating high school, Roger went on to serve his country in the United States Army. While in the Army, he served as a Military Police Officer. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Marksman Rifle, and a Good Conduct Medal. After his honorable discharge from the United States Army in 1978, he began his career working at Velda Farms delivering milk throughout the South Florida region.  Roger loved his job delivering milk, meeting new people, and creating forever friendships.  His passion and love for his job kept him there for several years until his retirement in 2016.

Roger was a remarkable son, father, husband, nephew, brother, uncle, and grandfather. Roger was that go-to individual for almost anything and anyone, especially family and friends. There was not much that Roger wouldn't do for his family and friends. Roger had a natural ability to connect with people, especially at family gatherings when frying fish, one of many of his favorite pastimes.  He enjoyed traveling with his mom to and from Kingstree or wherever she wanted to go. He loved and doted on his grandchildren every chance he got. His warm smile, genuine kindness, and compassionate nature endeared to everyone he met.  Roger had a way of making people feel valued and understood. To all who knew Roger, he was an honorable man of strength and wisdom. His lovable personality, pleasant demeanor, and willingness to help others will forever leave an insightful legacy for us all to emulate.

Roger loved life to the fullest and subsequently met and married Nashombia Thames in December 2021. Although he was married for a brief moment, it seemed like an eternity. After battling a brief illness, the Lord came on Sunday, April 7, 2024, and whispered in Roger's ear, "Come to Me, My Son and Take Your Rest."

Roger leaves to cherish his precious memories, Wife: Nashombia Thames-Scott, Children: Nicole Scott, Simone Scott, Yolanda Barett, Sister: Gilda , Brother: Scott , Grandchildren: Alexus Copeland, Ashley Scott, Kavon Scott, Aaliyah Ellis, Kanija Scott, Loren Roache, Tyrel Roache, Janey Scott, Raven Barrett, Great Grandchildren: Aaliyah Williams, Nevaeh Ross, Ariana Copeland, Andrew Harris, Zuri Scott, Adrianna Harris, Kamron Harris, Ra'Niyah Gaines, Joel Davis Jr., Akeno Ambroise,   Ranard Gaines and a host of Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Friends.
